IDEA OF THE YEAR(LOC)

Dear folks,

The LOC has come up with a new idea to stay in touch and do 'something different'. The idea is simply about a contribution or a senual 'pay off' back to our institution, NERIST. The document attached to the post describes it all and invites all discussion on the comments forum. If you can't see the document(because of slow net speed), click the download button and download the pdf version. Have an interesting read and the author expects a healthy discussion. Post your ideas in the comments area with your LOC-username(gmail), donot post as 'anonymous'.
Spread the message to as many EC2K3 members as possible.
'A big idea may start from scratches but requisites a big participation to make it "BIG"'.

Thanking you all.

Idea of the Year

This can simply take the crown of the idea of the year: 2009

Dear all,
I am sure that you all are enjoying being in the elite group which has been into some kind of service to the nation directly or indirectly. I say directly for those who are in job and indirectly for the ones who are getting monthly stipends for the noble jobs of being the torch bearers of further education in their respective fields.

The idea came from a very emotional Mukesh, EC 2k3 who has decided to get settled in North Eastern states of India and I feel proud to be a medium to be able propagate this across the all other enlightened minds.

The idea is to contribute a part of what we have earned back to the alma mater. We can always start small, and believe me once this channel is created it is definitely going to go a long way as there are a lot of alumni who are raring to contribute but could not just in absence of this channel.
The start will be from contributing to the printing charges including the papers for the project work in the forth coming semester for the batch of EC-2k4.

Suppose the contributors are Marbom, Nupur, Bhola,
PD, R. Rai, V. Tiwari, Sachin, Dev D., Alokojjwal D., Alok
Kr., Gokul, Bed P.P., Arijit, Soumitra Majumdar, Kamal
(Correct me if I am wrong) and I am sure the list
will increase in due course of time.

The process will constitute that once we all agree to
this we will talk to Mr. Swanirbhar M. through Mr.
Alokojjwal D. and Mr. Debabrata D. to open an account of
some sort which can be used for the required money
transfer.

I am sure you all are doing great and its nice be in touch through such wonderful ideas.
Awaiting your responses,

Please forward the messages as and when required, and also mention your contact number.
Regards,
Saurav

I feel the need of an LOC Account..One which is proposed in the document but somehow I don't find the application appropriate.
The money should be spent on the 'needy'(don't v an idea of it till now)...students already can manage these simple costs on their own.

Final Word:
Lets open an account for now or within sometime....and later maybe, we will find out a way to spend it in a better way.

Yup, we discussed on this issue of "needy" students while in Delhi with Rohit and the originator of the idea Mukesh, and we three were convinced by the plan of something like a scholarship program, but that seems a far too big a job.

I think for a "token" lets start with this small idea of cost of project printouts with EC 2k3 and later we can add other other alumni who all are raring to contribute but as I said could not due to lack of channel.

More ideas are welcome !!

3 cheers to LOC.
Regards,
Saurav

And I would suggest one more thing, if possible please copy paste the Document material direct here for all of us to read, downloading is unnecessarily taking an extra step.

:)

Enjoy !
Saurav.

It can be seen directly in the blog itself...anyway,I uploaded it also...see above.

Of course! its a noble idea---but each project group requires a printout of Rs. 1200/- or more. So the amount donated should be appropriate.

Is it feasible for the job seekers at this stage....If it is, then OK!

Nice to hear from mate all around, lets keep clearing their doubts as they build upon.

@alokojjwal: -
1. Nice point you made, but thats the cost of R.K. Studio which you are quoting, and believe me that one new cartridge of LASER printer of department will be enough for the whole department (we may confirm this from Swanirbhar Sir.)

2. And as for the job seekers, we are expecting only the paid ones to start on with first gear and later others will join full throttle.

saurav

Hey guys...i cant express how much happy i am..i still remember i referred to pd once for 'something constructive' to be done by LOC...but at that time i was not clear about the very fact called 'feasibility'...
Thanx to mukesh..i hope everyone who are capable will respond happily..infact they should..and i wish i could..
If i can be of any help then pliz let me know...
Let the spirit of LOC brings smiles to someone's face..
Let the altruism prevails...

Point is will the students accept our effort?? Is there any chance of misinterpretation?? If we start it once dont we have to continue it??I agree with dev...i think as dev and alok are in Nerist now..they can make out who are needy in any respect...or who can seek our help...cant we do anythng for those canteen boys or those nana boys??

Saurav said...

I cannot help trying to answer your queries, nice and bold questions though--

1. "Point is will the students accept our effort?? Is there any chance of misinterpretation??"

Ans. We shall go with this through the department itself and through the suggestions of faculty only and "we" are going as EC 2k3 and not as LOC. This blog is posted here just to have some critical analysis and discussion from the members.

2. "If we start it once dont we have to continue it??"

Ans.No, not at all. We can always chose to withdraw from the same. And the ideas may also vary from the initial one. I think once we start small and we build the bridge, we can look for more aims.

3. "cant we do anythng for those canteen boys or those nana boys??"
Ans. I think I have answered the same for you in the last one, as if we can start small and build the bridge we can at further stages fulfill more aims.

Regards,
Saurav.

Its really a very nice "Idea"....Like Poly said I wish I could contribute...I appreciate the idea....thanx to Mukesh for such an idea....at present we should try to talk to Swanirbhar Sir and then open the account as soon as possible...& those who are in Job line should start...we can try from our side o spread it to our seniors so that we get a good response....!!!!

Please spread the idea as swiftly as possible and we need all 15 sharing their point of view of refinement of the idea.

Lets have a cut off date as 15th January, 2010.
