INVICTUS

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

"Invictus" is a short Victorian poem by the English poet William Ernest Henley (1849–1903). At the age of 12, Henley fell victim to tuberculosis of the bone. A few years later, the disease progressed to his foot, and physicians announced that the only way to save his life was to amputate directly below the knee. It was amputated when he was 25. In 1875, he wrote the "Invictus" poem from a hospital bed. Despite his disability, he survived with one foot intact and led an active life until his death at the age of 53.

hey guys...whassup!!!
Sab bariya na?
Had a nice time today guys so thought of sharing with you all. Today we went to meet sachin in IISc bangalore. We refers to me,meenakshi, sourav and nivedita. We met sachin, salil bhaiya n angshuman modak(2k4 batch EC). The group was a whole nerist group but with diverse personality. I could never think of nivedita mallick talking with sourav and sachin so nicely!! Salil bhaiya was with us for a very short time but till he was there we enjoyed his company so much!!
Angshuman was so excited to show us the whole campus...all these made me realise that whatever we were in college does not matter now..the only thing matters are we are from the same college. Whenever, wherever we see or meet people from our college it feels so nice,so close and if that person is from same branch then BANG!! We never ever remember what kind of relationship we had with this person in college...the only thing we care about that this guy is from the same batch as us and so we share kind of same nostalgic feelings..we are able to go through the beautiful journey through the memory lane not alone.
Had a pretty nice time today...and ya,one more thing- this tuesday i attended a classial concert that ose for 12 hrs..6 pm to 6 am. It was my first such a long classical event and i am glad to say that it was worth being awake all night..great experience!!
I hope everybody must have something new in life..have a great time ahead guys..c ya soon... :)

Hi guys...wanna share a piece of news that I read in today's 'Mid Day' newspaper. This is a Bangalore daily. Mr. Rohan Koli wrote about 91 year old Shankar Pawar, the winner of Mumbai Marathon senior Citizens' run.
He came from Satara and won the 4.3 km race but the organizers did not bother to announce his name in front of the large gathering. In fact when he reached the finish line there was no one there to record his timing or to enquire about his condition.
I don't know what actually I was feeling after reading this but one thing for sure..Hats off to Shankar pawar. But what about us? Have we forgot to recognize, respect?

This week was nice. I witnessed the best music event of my life till now. It was a combination of cello, a dutch instrument very nicely Indianised and Sitar. Two great artists,Pt. Shubnendra Rao on sitar and Saskia Rao De Haas on cello did magic on stage. That was the first time for me to see some classical concert and to see both of these instruments be played in front of me by the maestros. That was a awesome experience guys..
Today i joined the group who organised this event in Infy, Spic Macay. This started in 70's and today it has its chapters in 250 cities in india(mainly in schools and colleges) and also abroad.
.16 persons from age 15 to 83 were in the meeting and all of them were so enthusiatic about what they are doing and what they are going to do. These guys organise shows with the most renounced artists of this time..Pt. Hariprasad chaurasia, Zakir hussain,Pt. Ravi shankar, Pt. shiv kumar sharma..etc etc..and know them personally...
That feeling was great actually..the feeling that I was talking to such personalities who have met these big guys, who can talk about music the whole day, persons who were above 80 with the spirit of 18,persons who were 15 with the enthusiasm and hard work of 25....
Had a nice experience..

India Innovation Growth Program 2011

Today, I am feeling very very nice to be in this honourable profession as I was invited to attend the "India innovation growth program" at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, organised by FICCI, Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of india. They have selected around 100 participants from the north-eastern region - ranging from the resarch scholars at IIT Guwahati to many Professors of Gauhati university, Tezpur university, Assam university and Dibrugarh university.

The program has highlighted "how one can commercialise one's innovative thoughts, how one can materialise one's innovative thought, etc.".
FICCI has given the platform for one's innovative thought to the real market. They will be giving the assistance for business agreements and also will give adequate feedback to improve or design one's innovative thought. FICCI will analyse one's report and forward it to Dept. of Science and Technology for any 'financial help if needed'.

Many individuals publish their research and findings on National and International Journals without protecting it. Here, protecting means FICCI has made a platform to get PATENTS to one's innovations or inventions based on some criteria fulfillment. It has advised to at least apply for protections before publishing. Because your idea can be used by someone else in the entire world for their benefit.
And the session included lot more for 3 hour followed by lunch.

There were many MP's roaming at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok as they were monitoring the preparation made to welcome the top BJP leaders of India-Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mr. L.K Advani, etc.

I was really honoured to be present over there among the many digniteries from many universities and also enjoyed the lunch at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok.

But I was all alone to express my feelings. And missed my friends a lot. Thanks to the makers of LOC for which I could express my feelings and feeling a lot better.

Save tigers again!!!

Hi...again I am back on 'Save Tigers'...
Today's slogans..'Save Tigers','Save Environment'...etc etc...How??
--Advertisements?Climate Summits?protocols?
Media war?Celebrity talks in closed studio in AC?Political war between developing and developed countries?
Crores wasted (natural resources along with money) in each of the so called 'Climate Talks'?
What the diplomats would do talking to each other if the citizens of each nation does not feel the
importance of every bit of every resources we are using?
People are there who just laugh on the whole concept of climate change..some just cant believe the fact that they need to save water,electricity,food...they get these things in abundance and they waste..and these people are the so called 'educated' people...they have studied about earth and environment for about 10 yrs in school, they have studied about renewable-nonrenewable resources, about endangered animals, about extinct animals, about pollution, about climate change etc in science and each of us have read Mr Gandhi-'Earth has enough
to satisfy every man's need but not every man's greed' .....but we forget yaar..we always forget..
We always forget that the earth is not going to expand...
we are proud to remember that we are the best creation of God,with a lots of brain power
but we forget that 'with great power comes great responsibility'...we forget that this earth is for us to live not to destroy out of ignorance and greed....we forget that though we assume God in form of human being,God is the builder of the whole earth..starting from a microorganism.
Now..the conclusion from the lecturebaji is - everyone of us should do their bit to save a bit of resource..first we should try to influence ourselves and only then we can influence people around us.
Again lets come to 'Save Tiger'(Dont mind..this is a magical creature for me)...
how to save tiger?-By saving their habitat..
how to save their habitat?-by preserving forests..
how to preserve forests?-simple yaar,by not cutting them..
But..wait a second...we need to clear out forests yaar..or else where will the ever increasing population go?
how can we urbanise?how can we bult industries to generate commodities for meeting the ever increasing demand?
how can we earn money to buy a home,a car..sorry two/three cars, live in perfect luxury? If we don't cut forests then how can we get minerals for our products?for meeting the ever increasing demand of electricity?
There must be a way to find the balance.....people are trying hard for this...but I don't know how and what should I do...
I just know that I can save a little bit of water, electricity and food, plant some trees, use a bit less
polythene bags, try to encourage others for doing the same and blog about it..

Don't know....

Love is so confusing yaar.....you don't know when you fall in love..you can even don't know if its love for someone else or just a selfishness....when a person says 'I can do anything for you'(or even thinks ) the most selfish activity of that moment takes place because the underlying sentence is 'I can do anything for you to be with me' or 'I can do anything for you and i expect you to do the same' or 'I can do anything for you to love me'....etc etc...
This is not true always. Two persons can love each other in many strange ways..without knowing that they love each other or feeling the love within oneself but not expressing as they are afraid of losing it..... they cherish the love within...very protective, very selfishly....afraid of hurting it...they love the love so much that they forget the person for whom the love is meant to be.....
Why do we cry when our loved ones goes away?Thinking about our loneliness or about the loneliness that our loved one will feel without us.....

Take your Life back again...be inspired

In today’s world, it can be easy to get lost in a sea of complications. It seems we have to go to great effort to get back what is natural, what is pure and what is simple. Naked addresses this ever growing need, guiding you through different aspects of your life and exploring how you can enjoy the goodness of simplicity. The book has four sections, based on the four classical elements. Water, Earth, Fire and Air, which the ancient Greeks, believed as the fundamental blocks of all matter and energy. In Naked, the four elements represent four natural approaches to personal well-being. Water looks at how we can use this essential substance to cleanse our lives, washing away mental and physical toxins. It helps you to explore all the ways that water can enhance living, both in terms of cleaning and restoring health and well-being. Earth invites you to enjoy all the goodness and energy of the earth. This includes the substance of the earth itself as a cleansing agent and as a source of minerals. The chapter also looks at the foods that spring from the earth, and the many ways we can enjoy the beneficial energy contained within them. Fire is about creativity, and energy. It helps you to unleash your creativity and get your mind into a fertile, productive space. The book also explores how we can sustain positive energy within us to meet all the challenges and opportunities that life throws our way. Air deals with your connection to the spiritual aspects of yourself and looks at how you can achieve harmony and balance in your life. It explores the lessons to be learned in the simple act of breathing and presents various methods of meditation. The book also discusses relationships and the ways that you can achieve balance within them. This completes the mind, body and spirit approach of the book.
As the pace of life gets faster, it is more important than ever for us to remember the important things in life, to keep things simple, and to be naked once again.

Courtesy:
Naked (how to feel naturally healthy) by Linda Gray. A Nature book regarding reviving yourself and using nature to heal your physical and mental liabilities. It’s one of my personal favorites. Be sure to read it and be pure, feel yourself again. I am really inspired, so posted the introduction of the book, for just an insight. Once you get to it, you know there’s a lot more, that nature offers you, just spend some time to read it and if you believe in it, practice it.

LOVE IN THE AIR--FINAL PART..

16th Oct: (Nabami)

Hi guys, it’s me. Ya, after a long night yesterday, finally its me again. Yeah. That’s what matters to someone close to me, my parents…for them it’s just me which matters.
I decided to spend the final day of puja with them, their simple questioning, gentle whereabouts, simple thoughts and overtly emotions are funny to think, yet they are yours in more ways than you know.
Morning hours are always busy if you have a handful of time and loads of kinships who care for you. From morning to dusk, it was all hi-hellos, everybody congratulating on my recent jobs and their piece of advices about private companies and the pay involved, I could just ponder how everybody can come to the same conclusion without even happening to see it once or be a part of it somehow. Whatever, I felt happy and feel belonged, maybe there’s somebody that cares and wish me success. You can call it faith or a false solace, but it’s lively I saw you. Loads of sweets, prasads, gifts, clothes and the heavy meal resulted in dizziness, time to sleep then.
Its evening and we are all set for The Divine Intervention. Everybody wore everybody’s, I mean gifts. I had my mom’s gifted Mangavar’s creamy Sherwali, sis wore her dad-gifted salwar piece, ma and baba wore my gifted Mysore silk saree and Peter England’s. It filled all nice and beauty. We started our journey. As customary routine, my sis passed along chewing half-fried chanachur and panipuris all the way, my dad took the lead showing us the way and kept the guardianship going, mom as usual was the pace-maker (as the pace of a group is the pace of the slowest runner in the ally) cozied by sis, and me, well I took a rather beauty turn, I was all photography, of course my new found love- my DSLR. Hard to put in words, yet it was exhilarating. Thanks to a Hydrabadi biriyani, Chicken muglai and savory sushi added to the beautiful evening hours. We came back in 2300 hours, had snacks and sweet-dreams.

Next day: Dashami fever-

Well, by saying Dashami ‘fever’, I meant it literally. I had my temperature rising to 99F and feeling cold and a bit sick, I started packing my things the very next day. Dumped my latest collections of dvds, packed gifts, my home-left stuff and of course, my beauty, my Dell 1545.Packing set and done, went to the internet to check up on the flight’s status, met some old friends on the way. Spent the evening explaining my girlfriend things that cannot be explained – like why I came for seven days and not fourteen days till the lakshmi puja a few days ahead, promised to be back on valentines’ again and yeah, her ring on her fingers, it was mine. It looked so cute on her hands. Bye-bye love.
So here’s where my short vacation ends. Hope you guys felt the same way I felt while writing this. And yet, tomorrow is another day, the day I will be gone and day I will have to wait another six months to get. And it’s my probation period in Infy, so I guess it’s just the beginning.
Happy Dusshera!!!
Signing off,
Dev

P.s: Will be posting the pics on Picasa. End of “Love in the air”

A LOVE STORY THAT FAILED!!!

27 Aug 2010, Wednesday
0600 hours
Nameri Natural Park.

I am 45. I grasped my breath, coughed my lungs, cleared my throat and disregarded every single signs of ageing one possibly could have. Sick for a few days now, I took my customary diabetes pills, meditation doses and laid back on the wooden bench. That’s how my day begins, with a gentle morning walk. Yet today’s a day unforgettable. It’s the day I failed, failed for 22 years now.

28 Aug 1988
0100 hours
Diary page – The D-Day, Graduation Party.

Recollecting recent past:
I was following her from the terrace. Her magenta silk satin, elle18 makeover, stellate ring to Gucci bag, everything fitted her. She is just so perfect. My eyes followed unhindered through overcrowded hall-way, our champagne-clad Club 18 set, to the dining set, off to disco and the hiccup party. Suddenly she looked disturbed.
Her quick steps ran my heart as I followed her to the vast second floor balcony. I studied her as she looked far-away into the jovial night-life of the city. I moved a few yards away, away in the dark. She looked moved and terribly sad. Her watery eyes spoke more than her quivering lips. Ok, that’s enough.
‘Hi Aratrika. Happy Graduation’.
She retracted; tried her best to gain back composure. ‘Hey, how are you doing?’
I am a good friend of hers, a friendship developed over my six years stay of college. Words gave to emotions, emotion gave to tears. I discovered it was the lost necklace that cracked her down; moreover it was a planned gift to her mother on their anniversary.
‘Hey, it’s gonna be all right. Take this and nobody is gonna notice.’
It was my set. We went shopping together and got two similar sets for our moms.

I pulled the gold off my sherwani and put it in her palms, closed it and passed her my last words:
“The day you will see through it, you will see through me.”

Present Day, Nameri Natural Park:

‘Do you have a water bottle in your sack?’
‘Ya, sure’ I said as I passed it along. The old lady rested for a while. To my surprise, she had my necklace and in her fist, my love letter, intentionally preserved by me inside the crest for her to find out someday, which said:
‘I love you, always have. Never able to tell you and never will. Wish you and Rohit many happy regards.’
Her lips spoke:
‘Why did you have to leave me Dev? Why?’
‘I can see through you.’

I couldn’t say anything. Not twenty-two years before, not now. I closed my eyes only to see she’s gone, forever.

P.S : It's friction, a story for here at internal story writing competition in Infy. Kept at word limit of 450, so details got compressed. I hope you guys enjoy this story of a LOSER and yes, nabami is up next for posting, stay tuned.
